Dr Kim is the newest surgeon to provide continued orthopedic excellence at the Heekin Clinic. Dr Kim has initiated the same quality of care that the Heekin Clinic has become known for, benefiting from the scientific findings and experience of Dr. R. David Heekin to bring the best possible outcomes for his patients.
Dr Kim was born and raised in San Jose, California where his now retired parents still reside. He studied at both UCLA and Drexel University, majoring in Physiology. He was drawn to Orthopedics when he was introduced to Biomechanics – how human anatomy allows us to function and move the way we do. Biomechanics is at the heart of orthopedics and how we utilize modern medicine and technology to heal or reconstruct the human body to normal biomechanics. He saw instant results from his surgeries, bringing back function and decreasing pain is what he finds the most rewarding in his work.
Dr. Kim went on to attend medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. During his residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, he chose to specialize further and is fellowship trained in adult reconstruction (joint replacement surgery) at the prestigious University of California, Davis Medical Center.

Dr. Kim has extensive training working with some of the most recognized surgeons in the world. While working at establishments such as the Rothman Institute, New England Baptist, Cooper University and Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center, he was able to participate in the most up to date surgical techniques and research while operating with some of the biggest names in orthopedics.
“With this training I strive to provide my patients at the Heekin Clinic with the latest proven surgical advancements such as computer navigated joint replacement surgery with the MAKO robot, various surgical approaches to the hip including Direct Anterior approach, multimodal pain management to decrease their pain and discomfort after surgery, leading to faster recovery.”
